Facetune_25-12-2018-13-30-58.JPG

This year, I am a senior at Kent County High School. I am the captain of the field hockey and softball teams where I have played for all four years of my high school career. I am also playing girls basketball in the winter. This year, I am excited to be a part of the Journalism staff and explore my creativity through a new outlet. I will be the editor-in-chief for the newspaper's website. I am looking forward to meeting new people and getting the new newspaper site up and running. I currently live in Rock Hall with my parents and my dog, Cooper. I am committed to Towson University to play division one softball after graduating high school. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, playing sports, hiking and playing video games. My all-time favorite show is Game of Thrones and I love watching Youtube videos. I am a natural redhead and my zodiac sign is Aries. I am excited for Journalism class so I can explore my writing and reach out to our school and community!

Hey, it’s Brendan, I’m a senior at Kent County High School, I participate in our school by playing on the soccer team and have for the past four years. I enjoy playing other sports, video games, watching movies, traveling and hanging with my close friends. I plan on attending a four-year college after I graduate with my dream school being Villanova University. This is my second year on the Journalism staff and I am looking forward to the new leadership and program changes this year. I am the Assistant Editor for The Trojan Times and got the role by volunteering my services. The music that is giving me vibes on the daily right now is So Much Fun and anything by DaBaby. My favorite movies are the Rocky series and the Batman series with Christian Bale. In my English class, I took a personality test and I have the personality of a protagonist, which is a natural-born leader full of passion and charisma. My birthday is February 1, 2002, making me an Aquarius. My best friends are Ryan Argo and Collin Futty, they’re like brothers to me and I’d do anything for them. Hopefully, my senior year is amazing so that this chapter of my life ends with a bang. Stay tuned because things are just getting started.

I am Ashanti, a senior in Kent County High School. I am a new member of the journalism staff. I first became interested in journalism last school year when a fellow classmate told me about the class. I decided that for my senior year I was going to try to do new things, and get more involved in the school. I thought writing for the newspaper would be good for me because I am comfortable with talking to people and I think interviewing will be pretty cool. I don't have much family, in fact I barely have any. I love going to work, and as odd as that sounds, my job is pretty fun. I've been working really hard this year to be better than I was the year before, I strive to better myself everyday that I can. I am also a part of the yearbook staff, where I am the Chief Editor. And I really love that class, Mrs. Saunders is the best. I love looking at all the memories and fun that we have in this school building. I'm looking forward to taking pictures and doing different types of fun activities in both my Journalism and Yearbook class.

Hi, my name is Catherine Milligan and I am a senior here at Kent County High School. I’m a captain on the field hockey team and have been playing for almost ten years. I also play lacrosse as a way to be with my best friend. I am an active member of the Interact Club, National Art Honors Society, and National Spanish Honors Society. I’m hoping to go to a four-year college and major in Psychology and minor in Spanish. I am more than excited to be a member of Journalism and have a position of leadership as secretary. In my free time, I like to binge-watch The Office a couple of hundred times. I am an ISFJ, which means I closely relate to Beyonce and Queen Elizabeth II (which I think is pretty spot-on). I feel spiritually connected to the song Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and know all of the words by heart. You can catch me with my face in my phone watching Tik Tok or on Snapchats Daily Mail subscription, keeping up with the latest news. I can't wait to see what the new Journalism staff will create this year!

I plan to major in psychology in hopes to get a career in industrial psychology. I also plan to minor in music performance. I have a pet fish, Terry, who is my pride and joy and three younger siblings that always make life interesting. In my free time, I enjoy watching Netflix, playing music, and taking naps. World News Editor

Hello! This is MiAsia, and as a current senior this will be my last year in Journalism. I’m an ‘01liner and will be turning eighteen in October (woo!). I was born and raised in Kent County, moving only a few times around the county and spending only two years in Queen Annes during elementary school. I have two siblings, one in elementary and one in ninth grade. For now, I work at the retirement community in Chestertown as a server. I plan to go to college for linguistics and international relations to hopefully later get certified and become a translator after graduation. I find joy in everything and try to stay as positive as I can every day. The only thing I may complain about is gross food! I’m an avid K-pop enthusiast and a huge stan, so if you need song and group recommendations, I got you! Lately, my favorite thing has been recreating and creating styles from the makeup down to the shoes, but it’s just a hobby. Anyways, I will be the World News Editor for our newspaper so I’ll keep you updated on everything that is going on around the world. With this being the second year in this class, I'm very excited to use what I learned last year in the upcoming writes! Stan LOONA.

Politics Editor

My name is Sydney Guest. I am a senior and the Politics Editor for The Trojan Times. I currently live in Tolchester with my mom and my step dad. Apart from being an Editor for the KCHS newspaper, I am also involved in National Honor Society, on the committee of Rock Hall Parks and Recreation, enrolled in KCHS’ Nursing CTE program, and a staff member of our school Yearbook. When I am not busy with school-related business, I spend my time working at Village Hardware in Rock Hall and hanging out with my best friend Julie Fierce. I am interested in Journalism because I love History and the two go together perfectly. I also like to be updated and in-the-know, whether it be local news or news from far away places. By being the Political Editor for the newspaper, I hope I can become more educated about issues that affect larger groups of people and expand my viewpoint from not just my own. After I graduate, I would like to attend Towson University and major in Nursing, going on to become a Nurse Anesthetist.

My name is Taylor Lyons, and I am a senior and the Sports Editor for the Kent County High School newspaper. I am looking forward to discussing and writing about all our High School sports teams have to offer. I live in Chestertown with my mom and brother, who also attends Kent County High School. Along with Journalism, I also take Communications and Broadcasting classes, which all work together to improve my journalism skills. I plan on attending Towson University after high school to continue my journalism career. In my free time, I start for the varsity football and baseball teams, which will help to provide extra insight into our games. And in the winter, I call the live play-by-play of the varsity basketball games on the High School’s radio station. I am a big fan of the Ravens and Orioles, and spend a lot of time either watching them on TV or attending the games. My favorite musical artist right now is Travis Scott, especially his album Astroworld, but I also enjoy country, classic rock, and pop. I am very excited for what this year of journalism has in store, and can not wait to provide great sports coverage for our readers.

Staff Writer

Riley Hylton

Senior

Hello. My name is Riley Hylton and I am a senior. I'll be rotating as a Staff Writer in the school newspaper. I am also on the KCHS yearbook staff. I enjoy writing and I can't wait to participate in publishing the newspaper for the school as it will help me stay up-to-date on what is happening around town as well as help others stay informed. My CTE pathway through high school is nursing, and I hope to work in the healthcare field with children or in physical therapy after I graduate. After school, I work at McDonald's on the weekends. I live in Massey, MD with my parents and sisters. I am looking forward to graduating from high school and going off to college. I enjoy reading and babysitting my nephew Jackson as well as hanging out with friends in my spare time. I like to listen to country music and watch The Walking Dead, but I can't choose a favorite author. I hope that this year we will create a successful and popular paper! My goal is for us to get more people to read our newspaper and even send in their own ideas. Maybe our success this year will inspire other students to join next year's staff!

My name is Lazaro Hernandez Rosas, and I am a student at Kent County High School. I am junior this year. I love playing sports, like soccer. I am not on the soccer team, but I just love the sport. When I am not at school, I spend some of my time playing video games and some of it hanging out with my friends. We do things like workouts or hanging out at each other's houses. When I am with my family, I usually help out around my house, depending on what my mother needs and sometimes I play around with my brothers. My favorite subject is math because comes naturally to me.

I was interested in taking journalism because I plan on going to law school, and journalism will help me in improving my skills like being confident or active when I talk to people I don't know. I also hope it will make me a better writer.

Greetings! I am a junior here at Kent County High School. I aspire to try my hardest academically in school as well as enjoy my remaining time here. I am entering my 15th year of dance, and I also enjoy astrology and reading books in my free time. Also, my favorite candy is Starburst, but only the pink ones. My sign is Aquarius, but I do not like to brag. I have a very open mind, but am a terrible liar. Some of my favorite books include: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, and The Wizard of Oz. I enjoy doing makeup on myself and freelancing on others when I have the time. After my time at KCHS, I would like to study to become an esthetician.

I have joined journalism class to become a little more vocal about my thoughts, improve my communication skills, and learn how to do a proper interview in case I want to do something with interviewing in my future. I am very excited to be a part of the journalism staff because it is a new opportunity for me to write and learn about other people.

Hi! My name is Shania Wolfe. I am in eleventh grade, and I'm a member of the Kent County High School marching band, chorus, and show choir. Through these programs, I’ve learned how to be more patient and to have more of an appreciation for music. Outside of school, I work very long hours on the weekends; but when I am not working, I listen to a lot of music! My current favorites are Machine Gun Kelly, Post Malone, Lil Baby, and Five Seconds of Summer. I binge-watch quite a bit on Netflix, like Supernatural, Lucifer, and Grey’s Anatomy. After high school, I hope to enroll in a university and major in Psychology to become a psychologist for military personnel. I took Journalism because I find it interesting to write articles on real-life events, and give readers insight on stories that they may not be aware are happening around the world. It will be incredible to publish stories in a newspaper that anyone can view. From Journalism, I hope to gain knowledge on how to properly write an article and publish it for the world to see!

Cassidy Reuwer

Junior

My name is Cassidy Reuwer. I am a student in journalism at the Kent County High School, and I am 16 years old. For the past ten years, I have been classically trained on the piano. I have played in front of over one hundred people and performed for many events. During my sophomore year, I was given the opportunity to meet Governor Hogan’s wife, when my friend and I constructed a sculpture of a dress made out of recycled bags and cans. I have always been artistically and musically inclined. Journalism, to me, is a way of expressing your personal side on specific topics of interest to the public. Appealing to the public is most important in journalism because if you have a story that everyone wants to read, it then becomes popular and you’ve accomplished the main goal of establishing an eye-catching story. As I take this class, I hope to gain more skills in writing professionally and more maturely. I believe writing is one of the best talents one can sustain because as you become an adult people find that even though they might not appreciate it, writing is a super big and important skill to have in the adult world.

IMG_8351.JPG

Hey guys, my name is Lexi Landon I am in eleventh grade. I am looking forward to being a part of the journalism crew to show what important events happen at  Kent County High School. I am a member of the varsity volleyball and softball teams, National Honor Society, FFA, and KCHS Ag CTE program. Sports is truly what I do all the time, though. I have played softball for a total of 10 years. When I'm not playing sports, I love to just hang around with my friends. I love all types of music- jamming out in the car has to be the best feeling ever! ‘Heartless by Morgan Wallen’ makes my night. I love a good TV drama, as well. My all-time favorite show is Grey's Anatomy. My dream college is Alabama University, to attend and major in Criminology and continue my love for softball. Roll Tide! Journalism piques my interest because I like to be up-to-date, and in-tune with all that is going on. I'm most excited to gain experience in writing news articles that inform the public as well as myself.

My name is Hailey Cox-Pemberton and I am in the eleventh grade. I live in Betterton and I have a twin sister (Hi, Jordyn!) I enjoy music, especially singing and dancing to my favorite songs. I am in the Colorguard in the KCHS marching band. I have two cats, two dogs, 13 rabbits, and two ducks. I love all of my animals, and love having so many pets! I work in my family business where, together, we do carnivals, magic shows, and fall festivals. I watch so many Netflix shows and movies- if you haven’t watched Friends on Netflix, you should watch it 23 times as I have! This is my first year in Journalism, and I hope to make a good impression. Journalism is very important to me because it is a way to tell the world something they may not have heard yet. I want to write about something that people find interesting and maybe make them want to join the Journalism crew. I decided to take Journalism because I wanted a new experience. I also want to put something out there for people to see and for me to be proud of.
