Volleyball

Tension filled the stadium in Kent County High School on Oct. 2 when the varsity volleyball team went on to play 5 sets against the Colonel Richardson Colonels . The Trojans fell short on the last set with the score of 17-15.

In the game of volleyball the team plays the best 3 out of 5. During this game the Trojans won the first set and then the colonels and then they repeated the process but the Colonel overcame the Trojans on the last set.

Last year the volleyball team was shut out when they travelled down to Colonel so this was a big game for redemption.

“We played really good. We should have won, overall we played really good as a team . We will be ready to take the win next time!” Natalie Walls says who is a sophomore.

The team played really well against the Colonels with the 3-2 match score.

The volleyball team just previously traveled to Pocomoke High School on Sept. 30 where they defeated the Warriors in 3-1 game.

The Trojans defeated the warriors last year 3-0 at the Kent County High School Trojan arena where they swept the Warriors.

This year the Pocomoke volleyball team had a little push and came back at the Trojans and won the third set pushing the match to go extra time.

“I think the team played down because they knew that they could beat them.” Anna Philips a sophomore states.

Pocomoke last year had only a few wins but none against the Trojans

The team last year had both varsity and junior varsity but this year they brought together both jv and varsity to form one team.

Just recently the team had traveled to Kent Island where they lost all 3 out of 5 games.

Tilera Wright believes that because of how the game last year came about with the team that it had already set the vibe of how the game would go because of how the game went last year.

“I feel like the varsity let who the School was effect how the game played out.” Wright states.

Come join us on Monday at 4:30 if you would like to see the team in action. The team will need all support on Senior Night when they battle it out against the Easton. Senior Night is when the graduating class of 2020 are celebrated, on this special night we will be celebrating Yasmine Jiggetts, Lisa Robinson, Lexi Langenfelder, Sammie King and Matalyn Cesarini in the Trojan Arena.
